Monday, April 13th marked an important milestone as I attended my first La Crosse County Board meeting as a newly elected supervisor. Now, having officially been sworn in on April 21st, I am honored to begin serving the residents of District 21 in this role. our trust and support. It is a responsibility I take seriously, and I am committed to representing our community with integrity, common sense, and a focus on what matters most to the people who live here.
Attending that first meeting gave me a valuable opportunity to listen, observe, and begin understanding the work ahead. It also provided a clear look at the progress the county has made over the past two years. While some of this work should have been done earlier, it’s encouraging to see steps taken toward greater structure and direction, including the development of the county’s first strategic plan. Having that kind of framework in place is important as we continue to balance growth, services, and responsible use of taxpayer resources.
There has also been significant investment in projects like the Hillview campus, which is nearing completion. These types of investments can strengthen our community when done thoughtfully, and it will be important to ensure they continue to provide long-term value.
Infrastructure remains a key priority. The county has invested to improve 22 miles of roadway, which is a positive step. However, in my view, more attention is still needed. As areas like District 21 continue to grow, we must focus not only on maintaining our roads, but also on long-term planning around traffic flow, safety, and future development. Growth is a good thing, but it needs to be managed in a way that keeps our infrastructure strong and sustainable.
Economic development is also moving forward, and the La Crosse Regional Airport plays an important role in that effort. The airport helps connect our region and supports local business and economic opportunity. Ensuring its long-term strength and viability will be an important part of planning for the future.
As I begin this role, I am committed to listening, learning, and working collaboratively to make thoughtful, responsible decisions. Local government works best when it stays focused on people, remains accountable, and plans with both today and tomorrow in mind. I will use this platform to inform you all of what is happening on a board level and what I will do to support District 21.
First and foremost, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the residents of District 21 for your Support!
